As a result, our teams have expanded with 19,000 professionals across the world, attracting the very best talent in the industry.Together beyond standards.Position Purpose:Overall duty of this position is to provide the leadership and operational direction of the Nuclear Services team. The Operations Manager will develop, support and implement strategic plans to grow the business while supporting the organizations profit targets and developing a highly skilled and superior workforce. The Operations Manager will oversee operations of the department, build strong client relationships, increase revenues in the nuclear division and be accountable for the safety of all operational management employees.Due to the nature of this position there will be on-call and overtime requirements as well as some travel.This position is available on a hybrid work schedule and requires occasional site visits.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining client relations and meeting with customer representatives on a regular basis to receive feedback, address concerns and identify potential development opportunities.
  • Building relationships with key business partners in other operating regions and support service departments, ensuring cooperation and collaboration among all the groups.
  • Represents the Nuclear Services Department and Applus with outside groups, regulatory bodies, associations and clients.
  • Supervising and directing daily operations, including the scheduling of personnel, the allocation of equipment/vehicles and generally all logistics relative to project coordination.
  • Actively promoting and proactively modeling the company’s focus on safety when interacting with all employees, clients and the general public.
  • Overseeing all aspects of personnel management such as but not limited to recruitment, forecasting, training, mentoring and assignment of technicians through use of planning schedules.
  • Ensuring all equipment and vehicles are maintained according to company policy and manufacturer’s specifications, including proper and timely calibrations.
  • Assisting in forecasting, budgeting and cost management activities.
  • Reviewing daily time tickets, technical reports, weekly payroll entry, and pro forma invoices for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensuring compliance with company and client HSE processes and procedures, including but not limited to timely reporting and correction of potential hazards, near misses, and incidents.
  • Leading and coaching regional staff, including applying performance improvement and disciplinary processes, to support high performance, employee development and succession planning in the region.
  • Overseeing the overall technical quality assurance processes for the region, including the development and approval of technical procedures.
  • Assisting in contract management, including preparation of bid proposals, quotations and contract reviews.
  • Constantly reviewing and improving internal operations and project management processes to achieve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Staying updated on industry and technological trends, identifying opportunities and developing proposals for improvements or adjustments to Applus services.
  • Adheres to organizational policies and procedures, including but not limited to Applus Code of Ethics and Confidentiality Agreements.
  • Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.

  • Adapt in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage competing priorities and multi-task with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to excel in a team environment.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, Adobe, and other software applications.
Education and Work Experience:
  • 10+ years’ industry related experience in supervisory management, quality management, project management and/or business analysis.
  • Previous supervisory experience in industrial environments.
  • Fundamental understanding of industry codes, regulations and standard practices is preferred.
  • Equivalent industry experience combined with other formal training and accreditations may be accepted.
Working Conditions:
  • The physical environment requires the employee to work inside an office environment, protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The work is primarily sedentary.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
  • Work outside of normal business hours will be occasionally required.
  • Overtime required during the week and weekend with work volume.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedules and respond to requests without advance warning or notification.
  • Occasional to frequent travel will be required within Canada.
