The Quality Control Supervisor provides the necessary leadership to plan, organize, direct and coordinate field operations to meet all client specifications and public safety acts/regulations.Due to the nature of this position there will be on-call and overtime requirements.Duties and Responsibilities:Complies with the quality standard set by Applus and its clients.Responsible for leadership on quality issues and recommends improved inspection techniques.Ensures quality assurance operational objectives and policies are in compliance with company and industry policies and procedures.Directly supervises field staff and handling all aspects of personnel management – training, mentoring, coaching and discipline.Works closely with management as the direct point of contact for clients.Establishes and maintains effective communication with and between functional groups/management to address problems and obtain resolutions.Plans, schedules, coordinates and completes all necessary documentation throughout the duration of each project in compliance with client, industry and company standards and policies.Trains, mentors and guides Inspectors in operational activities including safety, quality and processes.Provides direction, guidance and mentorship for the continuous development of Inspectors in compliance with industry codes, standards and procedures.Provides applicable orientation and training to Inspectors.Actively promotes and proactively models the company’s focus on safety when interacting with all current and future employees and clients.Strong commitment to quality inspection and reporting.Represents Applus with outside groups, regulatory bodies, associations, and clients.Assists the Quality Control Manager.Adheres to organizational policies and procedures, including but not limited to Applus Code of Ethics and Confidentiality Agreements.Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.Knowledge and Skills:Firmly adheres to the values and ethics of Applus. Exhibits honesty, discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment.Sound knowledge of industry standards; have the ability to recall, comprehend specific directions, procedures or other relevant information to visual inspections.Proven team leadership skills and the ability to influence others at all levels of the organization.Excellent report writing and review skills.Have the aptitude to be multi-functional by working with appropriate departments in developing and reporting educational needs.Must have strong vision abilities in peripheral, close, distance, depth perception and adjusting focus.Frequent movement of standing, walking and sitting for lengthy periods of time.Strong gross and fine motor skills of touch, feel, handle; reaching with fingers, hands and arms.Weight requirements of lifting and/or moving objects up to 50lbs on a regular basis.Must be able to perform work at heights.Ability to adapt in a high pressure and high production environment while managing competing priorities with minimal supervision.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with demonstrated ability to prioritize,solve problems, and consistently meet deadlines.Strong verbal and written communication skills matched with the ability to negotiate and build relationships with key stakeholders.Focused on continuous improvement and committed to learning new practices and developing better ways of doing things.Ability to excel in a team environment.Strong computer skills in MS Office and other software applications.Education and Work Experience:High School Diploma or Canadian General Equivalency Diploma, (GED).5-8 years’ experience as a Quality Control Inspector or NDT Technician.A minimum of five years’ experience in supervisory/management.Certified Level 1 Welding Inspector from the Canadian Welding Bureau.Valid G Class Driver’s License is required.Equivalent industry experience combined with other formal training and accreditations may be accepted.Working Conditions:Required to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid and dry/arid conditions in temperature extremes and inclement weather.Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials in various working environments.Commonly exposed to walking on slippery or uneven surfaces.Occasionally required to work in noisy/loud working environments especially on project sites.Required to work overtime during the week and weekend depending on project scope and work volume.Occasional to frequent travel will be required within Canada.Working conditions will vary between project locations.
