Job Description

With 15 locations acrossCanada and Western USA, we will continue expanding and strengthening our steel industry network.Cascadia Metals is currently accepting resumes for a full-time Regional Logistics Specialist to work out of our Hamilton branch.Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with Mill/ Origin agent to obtain material cargo readiness dates.
  • Negotiate with ocean carriers;
  • breakbulk parcels,
  • Annual Service Contracts (container and trucking companies for dedicated routes for Ontario East) with Cascadia Metals
  • Negotiate with Discharge Port Terminals;
  • For on Doc Charge (i.e., THC) toquot;first place of rest. quot;
  • To accept inbound parcels in full
  • Problem Solve overagesamp; shortages (identified at discharge port) with all parties in the Supply Chain (i.e., Mill, Carrieramp; Port Terminals)
  • Review and manage Incoming ocean freight;
  • Bulk ships, container ships, negotiation of container contracts, negotiating port contracts, booking of bulk shipment coming in via ocean freight, that we are responsible for
  • Investigate / Mitigate Damageamp; Detention Claims with Carriers
  • Work closely with Salesamp; Operations for the seamless movement of cargo from origin to destination
  • Documentation ( All Material Types Shipping Breakbulk/ Container)
  • Update SteelPlus PO Line Notes to affect amounts produced/shipped and ETA Vancouver port
  • Update breakbulk/ Container spreadsheets
  • Inventory Control
  • Purchase material from international/domestic suppliers
  • Create/ update new or existing IDS
  • Coordinate the set-up of new suppliers/ vendors in SteelPlus and with accounting.
  • Purchasing
  • Create and issue purchase orders (keeping the system up to date regarding incoming ocean freight)
  • Process commercial invoices for payments
  • Distribute supplier/mill shipping documentation internally
  • Update PO to reflect amounts producedamp; container vessel booking details
  • Obtain, processamp; distribute ocean carrier invoices/ documentation
  • Sales Inquiries
  • Obtain pricing (international and domestic sources) for all branch inquires
  • Various other duties as may be required
Qualifications:
  • Post-Secondary education in fields related to contract administration, business administration and supply chain.
  • Experience with capacity, logistics planning, and order processes
  • Excellent computer skills; comfortable using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word and ability to learn specialized inventory software
  • Extremely well organized, able to work independently or as a team with a high level of initiative and flexibility and willingness to take on new tasks
  • Self-motivatedamp; able to problem solve within a fast-paced, constantly changing plant environment
  • Strong communication skills: excellent command of English (oral and written)
