Major topics include respiration and photosynthesis; regulation of the cell cycle; features of multicellularity; DNA structure, function, and repair; gene expression and regulation; mitosis and meiosis; patterns of inheritance; microbial genetics.Learning Outcomes:By the end of this course, students should be able to understand the variety of microbial life on earth with regard to their functional role in real-world applications. Students should possess knowledge of microbial cell metabolism and function as it applies to their broader ecological roles.
