Job Description

FACILITIES MAINTENANCE PERSONREPORTS TO: Manager, IT and FacilitiesLOCATION: Home and Community Care Support Services Waterloo WellingtonHOME BASE: WaterlooSTATUS: Permanent, Full-TimeSCHEDULE: 7 hours/day, Prescheduled Monday-FridayUNION: CUPERATE OF PAY: $24.96 - $28.39 / hourASSIGNMENT: 1.0 FTEPOSTING #: 22-C-60POSTING DATE: October 31, 2022CLOSING DATE: November 7, 2022, 4:30 pmPOSITION SUMMARYThe Facilities Maintenance position deals with and resolves facility issues or requests in an effective and timely manner. This role works closely with the Facilities Coordinator on project work (eg. coordination of a move).KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitoring and responding to Facilities requests
  • Ordering and maintaining supplies inventories
  • Meeting room set-ups and moving furniture and equipment as needed
  • Assisting or providing backup to the Facilities Coordinator in move planning and execution
  • Office layout drawings and plans using Microsoft Visio
  • Receiving, unloading and transfer of office supplies, paper and equipment orders
  • Performing general office repairs, including but not limited to patching holes in walls, painting, hanging pictures, etc.
  • Snow shoveling and salting of Home and Community Care Support Services Waterloo Wellington properties
  • Responding to ergonomic requests from staff and provides basic ergonomic education and assessments
  • Contacting and conversing with landlords and contractors regarding building issues, and authorizing some services and contractors per policy guidelines
  • Sourcing and obtaining quotes from contractors, preparing purchase order requisitions
  • Performing generator testing
  • Other duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Completion of program of up to one year in duration (e.g., building maintenance, property administration, courses toward the trades, etc.)
  • Over 3 years experience in a relevant role.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Proficient in the operation of a personal computer in a networked environment using computer software and data entry skills
  • Use of hand and power tools for set-up and repair of equipment and furniture
  • Effective problem solving skills
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Visio to create office plan drawings
  • Able to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats with internal staff and external clients
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Physical ability to perform all duties outlined in this area of work (i.e., lifting, carrying, moving equipment, etc.)
  • Periodically required to move and/or repair office furniture.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment, including service areas and supply rooms
  • Bending, stooping and lifting boxes of up to 50 lbs or 25 kg required when moving equipment/furniture or restocking stationary and office supplies
  • Occasional exposure to dust and dirt when involved in moves or working in shipping and storage areas
  • Occasional exposure to seasonal weather conditions
  • Required to travel to all Home and Community Care Support Services Waterloo Wellington work locations
