Job Description

Grand River Foods is proud to be a growing, Canadian owned and operated company that produces quality Canadian food products.We offer long term, stable employment with competitive wage and benefit packages along with continuous learning opportunities to grow, develop and support you in your career objectives.We currently have openings for Line Operators and Relief Line Operators at our Waterloo facility located at 35 Northland Road.Line operators in the production unit operate multi-function process control machinery or single-function machines to process battered and breaded and IQF frozen food products. They also provide leadership, training and co-ordinate the activities of workers on the top of the production lines who provide manual processing activities manufacturing raw food products. They are responsible for troubleshooting minor machine problems and breakdowns such as broken wires, advising supervisors and maintenance of machine issues, for maintaining a constant flow of ingredients such as pre-dust, batter and breading into the machines by manually filling them, and maintaining a smooth running line. Work under the direct supervision of a Production Supervisor.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate multi-function process control machinery through control panels, computer terminals or other control systems to process food products
  • Observe gauges, verify specified processing conditions and make adjustments to process variables under the guidance of a production supervisor
  • Maintain shift log of production and other data
  • Sets up and adjusts processing machines and conveyors preparatory to operation and tears down machines at end of production day
  • Operate single-function machines to blend, freeze, par fry, or otherwise process food products
  • Check products for defects and to ensure conformance to company standards and customer specifications and perform corrective machine adjustments as necessary
  • Record production information
  • Provide work instructions, health & safety instruction and leadership to production workers and assist in production when required
  • Cleans and sanitizes work areas to maintain excellent housekeeping in their area
  • Work flexible hours in a fast-paced, team oriented, cold environment
  • Coaches/mentors employees and trains new employees on performance of their jobs on the line
Qualifications:
  • Average verbal and excellent written communication skills
  • Detail oriented, quality minded, highly organized, multitasking abilities and excellent problem solving
  • Must have leadership experience or abilities
  • Able to perform basic mathematical calculations competently
  • Highly mechanically inclined with a basic understanding of machines, hydraulics, pneumatics and electricity
Experience:
  • On-the-job training is provided
  • At least 1 year of experience in food processing an asset
