Discover how you can make a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities around the world.Reporting to the Group Retirement Services, Director of Operations, the Manager, GRS Operations, Shared Services will lead a high-performance team of specialists that are focused on the transactions as it relates to the Life Events (death claims, marriage breakdowns and bankruptcy) activities. The Manager will also have oversight of the administration of the plan(s) and the client experience/reporting. As a seasoned leader with a strong financial and controls acumen, you bring a strong operational background; deep process knowledge and a passion for continuous improvement and developing high performing collaborative teams. As a key member of the Administration Leadership team, you will collaborate with others on the GRS Operational Management team and partner with a variety of stakeholders (Finance, Risk, Audit, Controls and Business Development) and clients.GRS Operations provide a positive Client experience completing by accurately inputting data on various systems according to the Plan Sponsor’s requirements. This includes a focus on reconciling data across platforms and with various tools both internally and from our Clients.The Manager, GRS Operations, Shared Services has oversight for approximately 15 employees.A bit about the role:

  • Lead and support a Team in executing high-quality service delivery by providing direction, setting clear expectations, coaching, motivating, recognition, and holding individuals accountable for results
  • Develop the team’s competencies to fully utilize team member strengths and talents with a focus on financial management across all aspects of GRS.
  • Assist in developing automated solutions to better utilize the data available to improve the client experience along with improve the internal processes for the team.
  • Reduce financial exposure for the clients and Sun Life as it relates to payable funds.
  • Ensures strong controls and processes are in place to support the overall Administration of the plan(s)
  • Works on complex situations/escalations with Plan Sponsors, Business Development and other internal partners
  • Suggest client-centric ideas and contribute to team brainstorming in a way that furthers progress and employee development
  • Leverage technology to create new solutions to improve the team’s performance and address any existing control deficiencies
  • Hire and onboard new employees, manage performance, compensation and engagement of the team.
  • Champion decisions of the team, seek out and incorporate diverse perspectives
  • Establish and achieve productivity and quality targets in collaboration with peers and your team
  • Support overall change agenda for GRS Operations ensuring all change is sustainable and client-focused
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and innovation to deliver on the ever-evolving expectations of our plan members, plan sponsors, Advisors and distribution partners
  • Participate in projects involving new technologies, processes and practices
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers, distribution partners and colleagues

What you bring with you:
  • Exceptional customer focus
  • Minimum 5 years in a Leadership role
  • Superior skills in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to communicate in both English and French (verbal and written) is an asset
  • Previous exposure or involvement in Group Retirement Business is an asset

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
