By doing what we love, sharing what we learn and celebrating success, we encourage each other to achieve and grow, and we are role models for our community.About the positionAs a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will support the Clinic by performing all phlebotomy procedures associated with the diagnostic and therapeutic treatment services provided by Anova Febrility. You will collect blood and other specimens from patients in a timely manner, check the quality of blood and prepare specimens for testing while following established standards and practices. You will be responsible for maintaining patient result records, lab documents, log sheets and chart results. Rotation on the schedule for weekend morning shifts, including on long weekends, will be a requirement for this position. Crucially, you will share management’s passion for being the international standard for successful reproductive health and fertility centres and for making the right to family accessible to everyone.This position reports to the Blood Lboratory SupervisorMajor Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports Clinic’s mission and values by providing quality service and interacting with patients, coworkers and supervisor in friendly and calm manner
  • Carries out various laboratory procedures as outlined by protocols
  • Perform audits of equipment to ensure that this functions correctly
  • Explains process of specimen collection in calm and friendly way
  • Maintains patient result records, lab documents, log sheets and chart results
  • Provides test results for patient diagnosis and treatment by operating endocrinology equipment and hormone analyzer
  • Identifies and communicates abnormal patient conditions by alerting supervisor, physicians or nurses
  • Assists with maintenance of equipment and cleaning of lab, adhering to standardized infection control protocols
  • Prepares site for visitation by Independent Health Facility program or any other body that Anova Fertility depends on for certification and licensing
  • Performs data collection as required, using Clinic’s computerized database systems
  • Explores opportunities to add value to by presenting suggestions for process improvement to supervisor
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
  • Medical Laboratory Technician diploma
  • At least 1 year of experience working in clinical laboratory, specifically in drawing blood, using centrifuge and testing
  • Current BLS or OSMT certification required
  • ASCP phlebotomy certification preferred
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements
  • Availability to work Monday to Friday, and occasionally Saturdays (starting at 6:30 a.m.)
  • Flexibility to travel between our Waterloo and Guelph locations
