Job Description

Provides administrative support for the Division. Provides customer service to the public, housing applicants, and tenants (online, phone). Maintains financial information related to rent payments, charges, and arrears for current/former Waterloo Region Housing (WRH) tenants.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of office and administrative procedures, and basic accounting procedures, acquired through a grade 12 education plus 2 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with policies, procedures, and related legislation (e.g., freedom of information, privacy, housing, bankruptcy).
  • Organizational and time management skills to organize and complete work according to changing priorities and deadlines; and maintain records and financial information in general ledger. Ability to seek and obtain information to respond to inquiries.
  • Communication and customer service skills to respond to inquiries from the public, current/former tenants, and community agencies; exchange information with other staff/management; and participate as an effective team member.
  • Computer skills with ability to use Microsoft Office (including Excel), databases, and Adobe Acrobat (including accessibility compliance tools). Ability to create and maintain spreadsheets.
  • Ability to read and understand policies and procedures; applications; official documentation (e.g., legal documents); and correspondence. Ability to draft, proofread, and edit correspondence, memos, forms, letters, and reports per instructions.
  • Must provide an acceptable police records check (Level 2) for bondability.
  • Ability to travel within Waterloo Region.
  • Ability to support and demonstrate the Region’s values.
