Job Description

Operates and maintains a computerized vehicle weighscale; processes vehicles and performs related activities at Regional Waste Management sites.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of reading, writing, and math skills acquired through a grade 12 education plus 1 year of customer service and cash handling experience.
  • Knowledge of job-related Regional policies and procedures, related by-laws, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Communication and human relations skills to provide customer service and respond to customer inquiries (in person, phone) using tact and courtesy and participate as an effective team member.
  • Ability to read licence plate numbers, tickets, reports, computer screen options, policies and procedures, bills of lading, and by-law 98-87 (e.g., speed limits on site, untarped loads, site rules).
  • Ability to update data in customer files, complete daily cash reconciliations, and manually record weighscale tickets if computers fail.
  • Computer skills with ability to use job-related software such as Geoware and accurately enter data. Ability to operate a computerized vehicle weighscale.
  • Ability to operate a cash register and reconcile/balance daily receipts.
  • Must provide an acceptable Police Record Check (Level 2) for bondability.
  • Ability to travel within Waterloo Region.
  • Ability to support and demonstrate the Region’s values.
