Job Description

Job Title: Terminal ManagerJob Location: BadenPosition Type: onsiteShift Hours: Monday to Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm (Hours may vary depending on coverage needed)We Bring Food to Your Family’s TableThe Erb Group of Companies is one of North America’s largest privately-owned refrigerated transportation providers. The Erb Group specializes on the timely, protected distribution of temperature-controlled perishable goods across Canada and the U.S. The Erb Group is a family-owned business and has been in the industry for over 60 years. Its head office is based in New Hamburg, Ontario, with additional Canadian terminals in Baden, Toronto, Thunder Bay, North Bay, Ottawa, Montreal, Trenton, Winnipeg and a U.S. terminal in Elverson, PA.What Will You Do

  • Responsible to develop, manage, monitor and oversee all aspects of the terminals operation, including all expenses, hiring, dismissals (in conjunction with V.P. Human Resources), annual performance appraisals, employee orientation, training, employee grievances and concerns, security, movement of freight, routes and delivery schedules, customer complaints and concerns, payroll, equipment, building and yards.
  • Maintain terminal within the company Mission Statement, with a high regard for customer service and contributing to the profitability of Erb Transport Limited. Move freight according to delivery schedules and appointment times. Responsible for major decisions regarding all areas of terminal.
  • Ensure terminal, wash bay, and maintenance shop environments are maintained to acceptable standards.
  • Communicate closely with Regional dispatch, Linehaul, US dispatch and other terminal managers to insure any major problems are resolved.
  • Recommend changes and highlight any problem areas to supervisor. Analyse lanes, profitability, delivery schedules, costing of terminal, etc.
  • Monitor all equipment including power, trailer and dock handling equipment.
  • Plan, monitor and maintain employee schedules, time off, vacations, overtime, etc.
  • Investigate accidents and claims as required.
  • Ensure all supervisory/managerial staff foster and encourage a positive and respectful work environment.
  • All other duties as required.
Who Are We Looking For

  • Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to follow company policy and procedures.
  • Honest and trustworthy.
  • Computer experience specifically programs relating to Erb as well as excellent abilities in windows based and spreadsheet programs.
  • Understanding of costing, expenses, budgeting, and profitability reporting.
  • Proven organizational, time management skills.
