POSITION NOTICE(External Only)POSITION No. 22-054Applications are invited for the following position:AREA: FacilitiesCLASSIFICATION: MAINTENANCE – NON-TRADE – 1 PFTPOSITION SCOPE:Responsible to the Operations Manager for the maintenance and operation of the physical plantand associated services within the facilities. The individual will exhibit sound judgement andinitiative while working within the framework of the objectives of the service and the organizationas a whole.QUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma - Grade XII or the equivalency in a recognized trade or diploma. Aminimum of three (3) years’ experience and adequate knowledge in areas of generalmaintenance, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, sheet metal, painting, gardening,welding, drywall, and masonry work, equipment repair and some boiler and refrigeration work.Recognized engine operator certification is an asset. Ability to operate various motor vehicles,machinery, tools and equipment related to the work environment.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Communicates pertinent information, such as department activities, needs, andproblems to the Operations Manager to maintain the continuity of the maintenanceplanning. Must hold in confidence all matters pertaining to clients, staff and the KRRC. Promotes and maintains good working relationships and communications within thefacilities, with other program personnel and with clients and the general public. Contributes in activities related to the maintenance and operation of the physical plantand associated services within the facility, Community Options Houses and Workshopsby performing duties including, but not limited to: Contributes to the operation of a preventative maintenance program(s); Conducting scheduled maintenance; Requisitioning and replenishing supplies; Maintaining equipment and tools in good working order; Reporting any malfunctioning equipment and repairing where appropriate; Carrying out maintenance tasks such as, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting,and related general repairs; Maintaining quality standards of workmanship on all projects and ensuring OH&S; Carrying out all aspects of maintenance, installation and repairs; Maintaining the grounds; Operating and maintaining snow removal equipment to provide safe access and exitto buildings Assisting fellow maintenance workers as is possible and appropriate. Maintaining appropriate records, statistics, progress notes, inventories and otherrelated data. Participates in a team approach to client care by presenting/attending meetings and in-service and other training programs; Participates in direct management of the service by performing duties including but notlimited to: Orienting and instructing other maintenance personnel; Receiving, shipping and delivery of KRRC supplies and equipment; keeping adequate records and preparing and submitting reports as required; Taking emergency calls. Complies with the Quality Management Program and OHS programs by keeping up-to-date on developments in the Plant & Support Services Program and field and byparticipating in the continual development of the program and its personnel; Promotes the mission of quality care by performing any other related tasks and dutiesthat may be assigned or required, in order to maintain proficient work-flows.SALARY SCALE: As per collective agreementHOURS OF WORK: 75.00 hours bi-weeklyAPPLY TO: Danielle Atwell – Human Resources (hr@krrc.ns.ca) by 11:59pmon November 17, 2021PLEASE NOTE: All applicants are required to provide a coverletter quoting the position number and a copy of anupdated resume.DATE: November 7, 2021Form # 243Staff Position NoticeQuick Apply
