Program Manager – Permanent Full Time Competition No. 22-060Located in the beautiful Annapolis Valley, Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre (KRRC) servespersons of all ages with, intellectual, physical, behavioral, psychological, and/or psychiatricdisabilities. The following leadership position is currently available at KRRC, located inWaterville, Nova Scotia.The Program Manager, who reports to the Director of Client Care (In-Centre), is responsiblefor the unit program; to plan, implement, coordinate and evaluate all aspects of the programwithin the organization.We are seeking a dynamic, committed person, who can provide direction, and mentor a teamon one of the In-Centre care units. To provide and coordinate quality client care that isconsistent with the mission, vision, and philosophy of KRRC, the unit Program Manager workscollaboratively with adult clients, their families, physicians, a multi-disciplinary clinician team,other managers and In-centre Departments, Human Resources, community members, and theDepartment of Community Services.KRRC values diversity, equity and inclusion.The successful candidate will have the following: Post-secondary degree in the health professions (e.g. Nursing, Occupational Therapy,Social Work) and a member in good standing with applicable licensing/professionalbodies. Strong leadership abilities with a minimum of 5 years managerial/supervisory experience. Knowledgeable and experienced in areas of client care practices, as related to personswith intellectual and physical disabilities, psychogeriatrics, mental health and behavioralchallenges. Demonstrated experience in management of challenging behavior is an asset. Demonstrated commitment to the organization’s strategic direction and to the principles ofthe UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) and DSPTransformation. Ability to promote and enhance positive, collaborative working relationships. Strong leadership, communication, organizational skills and the demonstrated ability tobe self-directed, self-motivated. Analytical and critical thinking skills that will enhance problem solving and decision-making. Creativity and flexibility in approaching issues/concerns and implements bestpractices. Committed to continuing education, sharing knowledge and developing the potential inothers. Possess strong computer skills; proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Required to provide criminal record check with vulnerable sector check. Required to provide proof of COVID-19 as per the government mandate.The successful candidate will be responsible for the following, but not limited to: Facilitates and promotes KRRC’s strategic plan. Provides daily direction and leadership on the In-Centre unit. Is responsible for coordinating total 24-hour care/programs on the unit in conjunctionwith other members of the multidisciplinary team. Identifies issues on the unit and develops strategies to assist with the solution. Participates actively and positively in all staff/team and committee meetings. Promotes and maintains good working relationships and communication with clients,families, employees and outside agencies. Participates in a team approach by attending meetings, in-services and other trainingprograms. Complies with the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program by keeping up todate on developments in the field and by participating in the continual development ofthe program and its personnel. Performs any other related tasks and duties that may be assigned as required, in orderto maintain proficient workflows. Ensures collaboration with scheduling on employee training requirements is met andmaintained. Ensures client trust funds are properly managed and that KRRC policies are beingfollowed. Performs additional duties as required.Client Care Maintains and promotes health and safety standards and procedures in accordance withthe Department of Community Services/Department of Health/the organization‘s guidelinesand client care standards to a level consistent with recognized national and provincialstandards, including ethical guidelines. Maintains an ongoing knowledge of individual clients in order to ascertain the need foradditional or modified service in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team. Ensures optimum physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual well-being of clients throughadherence to KRRC policies and programs. Reviews clinical matters with the appropriate interdisciplinary member, including the unitphysician and psychiatrist. Ensures client medications are reviewed or assigns a designate. Ensures clients attend regular routine appointments and specialist consultations. Ensures maintenance and integrity of client and unit records. Ensures all required reports and statistics are sent to various areas as needed. Ensures availability of supplies and equipment.Human Resources Participates and ensures the orientation program for all new employees, volunteers andstudents will prepare them to work in a safe, competent manner. Ensures schedules meet safety needs of clients and are consistent with KRRC policies andprocedures. Ensures employee timecards are accurate and forwarded in timely manner. Assigns duties to unit personnel. Evaluates the work performance of unit personnel/casual employees. Monitors and compiles employee Attendance Support Program and works in collaborationwith return to work plans. Collaborates with the Human Resource Department for the functions of hiring, disciplineand termination of employees for the unit. Ensures HR is notified whenever a work related injury will or will likely incur time loss and/orwhen the employee has sought medical attention. Links in HR on issues relative to high risk and/or serious misconduct issues Ensures documented coaching during regular and probation periods where required. Collaborates with HR on additional duties as required.Financial Management Manages and controls the unit’s financial plan, including budget, financial and variancereporting. Identifies needs, assists in the development of, and implementation of the budget for themanagement of the unit.Professional Accountability & Development A member in good standing with your licensing/professional bodies. Committed to continuing education through courses, seminars, conferences, journals, etc. Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
