Psychologist – Full-time Position # 22-047Centrally located in the beautiful Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, Kings RegionalRehabilitation Centre (KRRC) serves 200 youth and adults with physical, cognitive,intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health and social challenges. KRRCemploys over 600 professional and support staff on a casual, part and full-time basis, makingour organization one of the largest employers in the region. Staff are employed both withinthe main Centre and in smaller, community options homes.Responsible to the Director of Clinical Services, the Psychologist will provide expertiseand specialized services to clients of Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre (KRRC), itscommunity option homes for children and adults, and the Cambridge CommunityOutreach Team (CCOG) in accordance with the mission, vision and values of KRRC,and within recognized professional and ethical standards of the provincial regulatorybody. As part of a multidisciplinary team of professionals, the Psychologist will engagein the assessment, planning, development, provision, and evaluation of mental healthand behavioural interventions and services to youth and adults with diverse needs, withrespectful inclusion of their families. The Psychologist will also provide clinicalsupervision and leadership to two (2) Behavioural Interventionists, participate incommittees responsible for developing and evaluating KRRC’s program, policies andpractices, and facilitate relevant educational programs for staff.Qualifications: Doctoral degree (PhD) in Psychology or Masters degree in Psychology (MA,MSc, MASP) with a minimum of two (2) years relevant clinical experience. Eligible for Registration or Candidate Registration with the Nova Scotia Board ofExaminers in Psychology. Experience in the assessment and treatment of individuals with intellectualdisabilities, autism, and/ or emotional and behavioural disorders across thelifespan. Demonstrated ability to work competently with individuals, families, groups, andcommunity partners. Commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of individuals with disabilities andto ethical practice. Proven ability to work independently and to work cooperatively as a member ofthe multidisciplinary team. Experience providing recommendations on a consultative basis. Ability to provide and utilize clinical supervision and support. Ability to work in both clinic and community settings.Position Responsibilities: Assess, diagnose, and treat emotional, mental, psychological, neuropsychological, andbehavioural conditions of clients across the lifespan. Appropriately select and use specialized assessment and diagnostic tools as needed duringthe assessment and treatment process. Develop and provide individual and group counselling and social skills training to clients inrelation to needs identified in the Individual Program Planning (IPP) process. As part of a multidisciplinary team, aid in the development, evaluation, and review of IPPs andPositive Behaviour Support (PBS) Plans for clients. Provide ongoing consultation to managers, other clinical staff, KRRC front-line staff, andoutside agencies that utilize CCOG. Assign caseloads and provide ongoing clinical supervision and leadership to 2 BehaviouralInterventionists regarding the development, implementation, and evaluation of behaviouralinterventions (i.e., in addressing complex cases of challenging behaviours). Supervise practicum placements for Psychology and Behavioural Intervention students, asrequired. Participate in committees responsible for developing and evaluating the organization’sprograms, policies, and practices that facilitate the development of more effectiveprogramming and improved outcomes for clients. Work in cooperation with Professional Development Services in planning, implementing, andproviding educational programs for staff within the organization and for external organizations. Participate in professional development, including remaining up-to-date with best practicesresearch, and maintaining professional registration/license.
