Reporting to the Program Coordinator of Volunteer Services, this position will be responsible for:performing various programming and leadership tasks and office tasks related to the scheduling, planning, development, promotion, implementation and evaluation of volunteer programsproviding a leadership and training role for volunteersassisting in handling correspondence, preparing reports and writing newsletters and press releasesproviding assistance to and dealing tactfully with both internal and external contacts in accordance with established practices and proceduresassisting in the planning, promotion and implementation of special events related to the assigned phases of volunteer coordinationThe preferred candidate will possess: knowledge of rules, regulations, supplies, equipment and facilities required for various programs and events; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers, staff members and the public; strong computer skills and knowledge of excel, outlook and database style programs; the ability to give clear instructions and speak and write effectively and understandably; and knowledge of routine office practices and procedures.The successful candidate has completed: either a University degree or College diploma in a related discipline with courses in Recreation, Social Sciences, Human Resources or Volunteer Management, supplemented by some experience in recreation work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
