We are seeking employees with a passion for public service who share our commitment to creating a complete, inclusive and livable community.The West Vancouver Bylaw and Licensing Services Department is currently seeking a permanent full-time Bylaw Enforcement Officer to join our highly qualified team.Reporting to the Manager of Bylaw and Licensing Services, t his is inspectional, regulatory, and investigative work related to the enforcement of municipal bylaws. The work involves extensive public relations contact which requires the exercise of independent judgment, action, tact and diplomacy and which is performed within policy, bylaws and regulation limits. The more difficult problems and policy matters are referred to a superior who reviews work performance for conformance to established policies and procedures and the effectiveness of enforcement operations.The preferred candidates will possess post-secondary training in law enforcement, criminal justice or a related field. The preferred candidates will have strong written and verbal communication skills and sound experience and training in investigation and adjudication proceedings. Candidates with equivalent combinations of education, training and experience will be considered.Please note the successful candidates must have a valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence with a driving record indicative of responsible driving habits.The successful candidate will be required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.This posting does not list all the duties of the position, nor does it fully detail the required skills, knowledge and abilities, licenses and certificates required of candidates.
