Job Description

Permanent Full-timeLocated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, West Vancouver is a vibrant community on the North Shore and home to parks, beaches, and to sports, recreation and arts amenities. We are seeking employees with a passion for public service who share our commitment to creating a complete, inclusive and livable community.The District of West Vancouver has an immediate opening for a permanent, full-time Facilities Asset Project Manager.Reporting to the Senior Manager of Facilities and Assets, this position will be responsible for:

  • Creating project documentation including: drawings and specifications, charter, project plan, communication plan, governance plan, Risk and Issues Management Plan, and associated project control deliverables for renovations, maintenance and energy management projects;
  • Developing project plans associated with the facilities capital asset renewal plan, energy management, and greenhouse gas reduction projects;
  • Coordinating architects, engineers, and other professionals required to complete the required projects;
  • Implementing maintenance projects utilizing in-house and/or contractors;
  • Tracking project progress, reporting on project status, major issues/obstacles encountered and making recommendations regarding projects scope changes;
  • Developing and implementing corrective action plans to mitigate impact to project schedules and overall business objectives;
  • Keeping stakeholders aware of project status and ensures effective communication channels are in place;
  • Coordinating and/or monitors the commissioning, testing, training, and documentation of various systems related to the respective projects;
  • Post-Commissioning of building systems on an ongoing basis to ensure optimum performance;
  • Coordinating the preparation of the project close-out documentation, including O&M Manuals, warranties and archiving the project records;
  • Monitoring contractor performance and insuring project conform to terms and conditions of agreements;
  • Developing and implementing sustainability, energy management and greenhouse reduction plans for District facilities;
  • Coordinating and arranging furniture and equipment moves and installations;
  • Preparing budget reports and monthly project cost reports;
  • Preparing confidential correspondence, documents and reports;
  • Updating the long term facilities capital asset renewal database; and
  • Other related duties as required.
The successful candidate has completed: a Diploma in field related to architecture, civil, electrical or mechanical engineering or trades qualification in a building trade, plus 2 years of project coordination experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Project) and experience in the use of AutoCAD will be considered an asset. A BC Driver’s License and a vehicle are required.The successful candidate is required to supply a criminal record check and a copy of their credentials.
