Job Description

(Permanent, Full-Time)Located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, West Vancouver is a vibrant community on the North Shore and home to parks, beaches, and to sports, recreation and arts amenities. Our dedicated staff deliver services, operate facilities and run the programs that enhance the well-being of our community.The District of West Vancouver’s Engineering Construction Department is currently looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working permanent, full-time Labourer to join our team in the Sign Shop. The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks assisting the sign shop, including:

  • Replacing and repairing damaged or aged traffic control signs and street signs in accordance with prescribed Federal, Provincial and Municipal regulations;
  • Assist with asset management tracking and updating – sign entry and maintenance data
  • Assist with special event set up and take down
  • maintaining equipment in a safe and secure manner;
  • maintaining and repairing hand tools necessary for sign installation ;
  • completing daily written maintenance logs and records;
  • trimming foliage and vegetation blocking signs;
  • providing manual labour assistance on various tasks and assignments; and,
  • performing other related duties as required.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:
  • Work effectively and efficiently in a team environment or alone while maintaining a safety first mentality
  • work outdoors in a physically demanding role in all types of weather conditions
Any of the following credentials is considered an asset but is not mandatory:
  • Previous experience or training in sign making assistance, installation preferred ; general landscape maintenance, and working in and around traffic.
  • A valid TCP certification
The candidate must hold a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License. Candidates will be asked to provide a Driver’s Abstract directly from ICBC.The successful candidate will be required to supply an acceptable police information check and a copy of their credentials.
