Our dedicated staff deliver services, operate facilities and run the programs that enhance the well-being of our community.The Community Services Department is hiring Outdoor Recreation Instructors for various outdoor recreational activities including, but not limited to: hiking, navigation, nature interpretation and camping.Candidates will be expected to lead both indoor knowledge-based training as well as outdoor activities (rain or shine). Responsibilities may include creating lesson plans and day trip itineraries, teaching basic skills, leading group activities, responding to incidents and mentoring other staff and/or volunteers. Candidates must have strong organizational, supervisory and interpersonal skills. Comfort with teaching various ages, from children to adults, would be considered an asset.Hours of work will vary according to registration and activity. T he successful candidates will possess:· Current Emergency First Aid and CPR-C certification (these certifications must be obtained before the start date).The following certifications or qualifications will be considered an asset:· Wilderness First Aid· Coaching certification (i.e. NCCP);· High Five®;· Avalanche Safety Training· Past experience leading group recreational activitiesWe recognize the importance of a diverse workplace, and strive to meaningfully reflect the community we so proudly serve.
