Equipment of this type is assigned to all sections within the department and operators are required to be flexible and familiar with a wide variety of circumstances. A Tandem Axle Operator II is required to perform service maintenance on equipment assigned to them as required under the Motor Vehicle Act. The position also includes labouring duties such as digging, lifting, setup and cleanup tasks, and must be capable of working during emergency operations such as snow removal.The successful applicant must have considerable knowledge of the methods and practices employed in the operation and servicing of this type of equipment. As well, the successful applicant should be familiar with a broad cross section of Public Works operations and must possess a valid Class 1 BC Driver’s License with an air brake endorsement.
