Job Description

Your Opportunity:This position reports to the Manager or designate. The Clinical Supervisor works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for providing clinical supervision and team leadership to interdisciplinary team members in the Assertive Outreach program at the ten Rural West Central Zone sites. Support is offered both in-person and virtually. This position supports the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services particularly with the respect to the delivery of recovery oriented, integrated mental health and addiction services. Assessment, provisional diagnosis, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, clinical consultation, education, and referral services for clients, and their families as appropriate, with addiction and mental health issues. Participation in promotion activities and contribution to the establishment and maintenance of addiction and mental health resources in the community along with reduction of stigma; the incumbent will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders in order to provide a continuum of recovery oriented services to clients accessing Community Addiction and Mental Health services. There is flexibility as to the location of this position is within the Province of Alberta. At the time of appointment the successful candidate may discuss location options with the hiring manager.Description:As a Clinical Supervisor, you will provide clinical supervision for a discipline, practice area or service sector supporting clinicians to provide excellence in professional practice and enable quality, patient and family-centered care. In this clinical leadership role, you will provide clinical supervision to staff providing addiction and/or mental health services to individuals, families, and groups. This role involves supervision related to a range of assessment, mental health (psychosocial, and psychological interventions), and other activities. Supervision may be provided to regulated staff, those requiring supervision to meet regulatory requirements for practice, and/or to unregulated staff providing the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention. This may include observing clinical sessions, reviewing clinical documentation and written reports, conducting team case consultations and offering support, and providing guidance and direction to clinical staff with challenging and urgent cases in a timely manner. In your role, you may work with members of the interdisciplinary team, psychiatrists and community partners in support of effective professional and collaborative practice. You may contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health treatment services in a hospital setting or community. You may also identify and address gaps in clinical practice as well as facilitate addressing of system level gaps and risk management issues. You may provide support to leadership in the hiring, orientation and performance evaluation of clinical staff.

Required Qualifications:Masters Degree in Psychology or Social Work or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory body. Must hold general registration prior to starting in the position. 5 years experience in providing mental health assessment and intervention, including restricted activity of psychosocial intervention.Additional Required Qualifications:Masters degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Masters degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Current registration with the applicable professional college; authorization from the applicable professional college in order to perform psychosocial interventions and meet the standards of the Health Professions Act. Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Mental Health Therapist, Psychologist 1, or Social Worker III, preferably in a community setting with practice in the assessment and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, concurrent disorders and experience in clinical supervision/leadership of teams. Possession of a non-Graduated drivers license (non-GDL) and access to a reliable personal vehiclePreferred Qualifications:Familiarity in working with ASIST database.
