Job Description

This is a part-time contract position for 35 hours per week in Wetaskiwin, Camrose, and surrounding area. The length of the contract will be 8 weeks.Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 30.Job Summary:If you have experience working in early childhood development, as a child and youth worker, as a community disability worker, or in other human service programs, this may be the employment opportunity you are looking for! As a role model for children and youth, you must have the capacity to research activities that reflect their needs to be involved in the community. With support from staff, you will plan various social, recreational, and fun events for children and adults with disabilities.Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver a program to children and adults with disabilities
  • Help plan and support caregiver support groups for families impacted by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
  • Assist adults with developmental disabilities with their day-to-day needs
  • Special projects include file management systems and data entry
  • Assist in promoting positive public relations at community events
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in staff development training
  • Other administrative duties
Your ability to work with strength-based and solution-focused approaches, along with a strong desire to learn and develop in your chosen field will make you the ideal candidate. Experience working in a team environment and the ability to build rapport with relationship-resistant children/youth are assets, but not required as training will be provided.Education & Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 education (or equivalent)
  • Further education in Disability Services, Early Childhood Development, Child and Youth Care, or Education is considered an asset
  • Experience working with persons with developmental disabilities, behavior, & mental health
  • Vulnerable sector record check from local RCMP or City Police
  • Child Intervention Check
  • Clear and current drivers abstract
  • A vehicle and valid Class 5 drivers license - requirement to transport clients in your personal vehicle
  • Proof of vehicle insurance showing $2 million liability coverage
