Job Description

ON BEHALF OF VULCRAFT CANADA, INC.Vulcraft Canada, Inc, A Division of Nucor Corporation is currently looking for a Health and Safety Administrator to support our Western Operations working between or Leduc, and Wetaskiwin, facilities.The Health & Safety Administrator, reporting to our Canadian Environmental, Health and Safety Manager but working closely with the Operation Managers will be responsible to assist both facilities with the continual improvement of all health and safety aspects of our operations.Duties & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate conduct consistent with Vulcraft Canada, Inc.’s vision and values
  • Lead and facilitate participation of teammates at safety and JHSC meetings and record minutes
  • Conduct onsite incident investigations and work with supervisors and operations managers to ensure timely closure of investigations
  • monitor and maintain the safety incident tracking, hazard analysis database in Intelex
  • Conduct follow-ups for incidents reported in Intelex and ensure corrective actions are completed on time
  • Support Certificate of Recognition (C.O.R.) program requirements and audits for Western Canada
  • Conduct proactive safety activities, including inspection, observations and training/education at both locations as needed
  • Assist as required in upkeep of statistics
  • Responsible for all administration relating to WCB claim reporting
  • Responsible to support accommodation and modified work requirements relating to WCB return to work injury or assisting the HR department for non-work-related illness or injury
  • Ensure safety data sheets are maintained
  • Participate in annual review of the health and safety management system
  • Develop, promote and maintain Vulcraft Canada, Inc.’s positive safety culture
  • Assess and implement controls to identify and eliminate potential hazards
  • Assist in the development, coordination and organization of effective H&S policies, procedures, programs, and equipment ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Promote, advise, and mentor managers, supervisors and teammates about safe work practices, and management and safety standards & regulations
  • Administer and coordinate the local Emergency Response Plan (ERP) program, conducting drills and assessing effectiveness
  • Coordinate New Hire orientation and training
  • Identify training needs and requirements and assist in the development and delivery of internal EHS training or coordination of offsite training activities
  • Other duties as assigned
RequirementsMinimum Qualifications and Requirements:
  • High School Diploma
  • 3 years experience as a Health and Safety administrator in a manufacturing environment
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • The ability to work both independently and with a team
  • Must be very organized, self-starter with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to form strong working relationships
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • This position requires the successful candidate to have a valid drivers licence and use of personal vehicle with the ability to travel between locations when required. The candidate would have to provide proof that s/he has a valid drivers licence and insurance upon being hired.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MSO designation or the ability to obtain
  • Working Knowledge of Certificate of Recognition (COR™) program
  • Experience with Intelex Software
