Galati Cheese Company Ltd. (“Galati”) is a leading manufacturer of mozzarella cheese in the Southwest Ontario market, supplying local and regional pizzerias, grocery stores, and delicatessens. The Company was founded over fifty years ago and has grown successfully under Guiseppe Galati and his family. Guiseppe believed that as long as you took care of the customers, the business would flourish. Galati’s signature product is mozzarella cheese and the Company augments this offering with artisanal style cheeses such as bocconcini, ricotta, friulano, and scamorza. As Galati continues to grow, the business has elected to add a controller to its management team. The Opportunity:Logic Executive Searchamp; Workplace Solutions is proud to partner with Galati Cheese in the recruitment of a Controller located in Windsor, Ontario. This role reports directly to the President, and is responsible for working with the Company’s board of directors, bank, and external accountant, to directly oversee the accounting and finance needs of the organization.What’s In It For You

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• Direct oversight and management of the organization #39;s accounting function including monthly financial reporting and quarterly presentations to the Board of Directors.
• Supporting changing business demands by monitoring and reviewing strategic goals and ensuring company performance objectives are being met.
• Transitioning the organization’s internal financial statements from a cash basis to an accrual basis in accordance with IFRS standards.
• Managing the organization’s cash flows including accounts receivable, credit exposures, disbursements, and contractual arrangements with vendors and suppliers.
• Developing comprehensive internal control systems including cash reconciliations, policies and procedures, and accounting records.
• Overseeing and maintaining information systems including employee payroll, insurance, and benefits.
• Supporting the maintenance of inventory control and product costing systems including physical inventory management, purchase order activity, product cost, and general ledgers.
• Preparing monthly reporting statements and ensuring compliance with local, provincial, and federal bank reporting and tax requirements.
• Being the primary point of contact for external auditors, financial institutions, insurance agencies, and the CRA.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field.
• 10+ years of experience in a senior financial management position.
• Previous experience with auditing, financial management reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Strong passion for business operations and being hands-on with the organization.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities, human relations skills, and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
• A passionate fan of Windsor pizza.

Complimentary Experience:

• CPA, CGA, or CA designation is considered a strong asset.
• Working knowledge of Sage 300 accounting software is considered an asset.
• Demonstrated previous experience with cost accounting is considered an asset.
• Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in all Microsoft-related software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
