Job Description

COMPANY OVERVIEW:AGS Automotive Systems is a full-service automotive supplier specializing in the manufacture and supply of complex high value-add automotive metal components, including in particular front and rear impact assemblies, principally for pick-ups and the heavy truck market. For over 70 years AGS has stood behind our belief in quality, technology, and teamwork. AGS is looking for a Materials Coordinator to join our dynamic organization. This role is located in our plant in Windsor, Ontario.BASIC FUNCTION: Reporting to the Materials Supervisor, the Materials Coordinator is responsible for, but not limited to, coordinating with the Shipping/receiving and Materials departments with the distribution of our product; and ensuring customer requirements are met and exceeded.MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAdheres to procedures and instructions.Responsible for maintaining safe working conditions, practices, and ensures that good safety processes are included in all activities. Ensure the Standards of Section 28 of the OHSA are met.Main duties and responsibilities

  • Coordinates the flow of materials and purchased parts, according to production and shipping schedules or departmental priorities.
  • Issues releases to assigned suppliers at required intervals.
  • Coordinates sub-contractor schedules and off-site inventory reconciliations/counts.
  • Responsible for setting up and tracking freight / expedites with carriers.
  • Reviews MRP demand/production schedules and exception reports to determine and communicate any potential material shortages.
  • Ensures supplier inbound packing slips and deliveries are accounted for and accurately received into the MRP system.
  • Completes cycle counts at the required frequency and analyzes inventory variances.
  • Maintains accurate inventory records (including locations) for raw materials, purchased parts, WIP and F/G #39;s.
  • Initiates workflow requisitions for production / MRO purchased parts and services.
  • Inputs / uploads production reporting data into the MRP system.
  • Provides support as a backup to Shipping/Receiving Department ensuring timely shipment and ASN #39;s to customers.
  • Any additional duties as assigned.
DESIRED SKILLamp; ABILITY
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with customer systems (GM Supply Power, GMCCA, CLIPS, Turbo, etc)
  • Knowledge of MRP systems with material planning experience
QUALIFICATIONS:Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing and related processes, including customer shipping requirements, production scheduling and raw materialsGrade 12 and five years or more of experience in a computerized materials management / production environmentExcellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skillsGood computer skills and knowledge of the relevant softwareWORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Automotive stamping plant. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Exposure to noise; confined spaces, lighting conditions, material, products and by-products associated with the manufacture of automotive parts including steel, temperature and weather extremes that require the use of specialized protective devices or equipment.
  • Required to climb stairs, able to crouch for periods of time, push, pull, lift and turn while carrying work tools in various parts of the facilities.
