Job Description

BIOVECTRA Inc. is a leading bio-science business in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, focused on contract manufacturing and product development of active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediates, and bioreagents.BIOVECTRA Inc. has an opening for a Process Development Lab Steward This is a permanent, full-time position located in Windsor, NS.The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Performing support activities in the PD lab, which will include chemical and consumables inventory management and count, organizing glassware, equipment, and workspaces.
  • Organizing storage space. Overseeing shipments between the main warehouse and the PD site.
  • Performing instrument calibrations and basic-level preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Setting up new equipment in the internal systems. Preparing and ensuring compliance with the maintenance schedule.
  • Organizing vendor repair and maintenance activities on instrumentation.
  • Interacting with vendors and the procurement department, requesting quotes, and purchasing of materials and equipment.
  • Working with senior scientists on initial procurement and subsequent stock maintenance of project-specific supplies.
  • Maintaining accurate, real-time records of laboratory activities, particularly those related to equipment maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Performing required calculations, by hand or with use of spreadsheets or validated computer systems.
  • Ensuring the correct status labeling of reagents and instrumentation in the PD laboratory.
  • Data entry and trending data using Excel or other computerized systems.
  • Responsible for contacting external companies for removing lab waste and completing all necessary paperwork.
  • Maintaining compliance with the EHS guidelines for the laboratory space.
The successful candidate for this position should have:
  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Post-Secondary diploma in Biotechnology or similar field an asset.
    • Experience working with instrumentation in a laboratory setting is an asset.
