Job Description

BIOVECTRA Inc. is a leading bio-science business in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, focused on contract manufacturing and product development of active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediates, and bioreagents.BIOVECTRA has an opening for a Quality Control Microbiology Superintendent. This is a permanent, full-time position located in Windsor, NS.*The candidate will be responsible for:*

  • Planning microbiological lab activities to ensure the smooth operation of all Production units and to meet sales targets, in full compliance with the quality system and GMP.
  • Delegating work and providing guidance to QC Microbiologists in order to efficiently accomplish priorities.
  • Looking after basic Human Resources services for the QC microbiology labs, including rectifying time punches and review and approval of vacation requests, providing employee feedback and evaluation where needed, and ensuring employees are in compliance with workplace rules.
  • Communicating with Analytical Services management, the Administration group, QA and Manufacturing with regard to QC activities.
  • Review of testing records and data for completeness, correctness and compliance with GMP.
  • Providing training and support for microbiological techniques such as gram staining, organism identification (API Strips / Vitek) and USP Testing < 61>/< 62> (GrowthDirect)
  • Maintaining accurate, real-time records of all laboratory activities and ensuring the all team members are maintaining accurate, up-to-date, compliant records.
  • Identifying test results which are out of specification and opening/executing formal failure investigations when this occurs.
The successful candidate for this position should have:
  • Experience in Biologics manufacturing environment & Knowledge of cGMP guidelines an asset.
  • Bachelor of Science degree, emphasis on Microbiology preferred.
  • Two years of relevant laboratory and/or management experience.
  • Technical proficiency with microbiological laboratory test methods .
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong technical writing required.
