Additional information about the Company can be found at www.abctechnologies.com.Job Summary:A Spotter at our Windsor Mold Tooling facility is responsible to check the contact surfaces between the moving side and the stationary side. Spotters use colorants to identify which surfaces are making contact, and which are not. Job Responsibilities:Your supervisor may from time to time ask you to perform other related duties not specifically included in this job description. This job #39;s key responsibilities include:

  • Task Preparation and Execution: The Spotter is responsible to prepare the tool for spotting both mechanisms and parting line, as appropriate. The Spotter is responsible to heat up the mold and maintain proper temperature controls using a thermolator. The Spotter is responsible to perform any handwork required for opening vents, mastering pockets, and stoning parting lines. The Spotter is also responsible to understand different plastic material properties and understand how that impacts the spotting process. Fitting and timing parting line straight and pressure locks is also the responsibility of the Spotter.
  • Quality Control: Spotting involves reviewing the steel conditions for defects, such as surface imperfections, or dimensional inaccuracies The Spotter must be trained to recognize quality issues and take corrective measures to maintain product quality standards.
  • Workplace Safety: The Spotter must adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for themselves and their colleagues.
  • Documentation: The Spotter may be responsible for maintaining accurate records of production data, quality inspection results, and any issues encountered during the spotting process. This documentation helps to track performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
Job Qualifications:
  • Education: minimum is a High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
  • Technical skills: 3 years of spotting experience with preference for those with multi-shot rotational tool spotting.
  • Technical knowledge: Vertical mill (Fly Cutting, Drilling, etc.), two shot compression, icing line seal off on lighting tools. Mold making experience, welding ability, and knowledge of tool build would be considered an asset.
  • Attention to Detail: Spotting requires keen observation skills and the ability to identify defects or abnormalities in steel that will carry over into the molded parts. Attention to detail is essential for maintaining quality standards.
  • Manual Dexterity: The ability to handle and manipulate small parts and perform manual tasks such as grinding and fitting.
  • Safety Awareness: Spotter roles often involve working with machinery and equipment, so candidates must have a strong commitment to workplace safety and follow all safety protocols and procedures.
