Job Description

The Dean at Kootenay Columbia College of Integrative Health Sciences is responsible for providing strategic, academic and operational leadership to the College. The Dean will work with colleagues and Senior Management to create and deliver a vision that engages students and staff centric to the College’s core values.Key Duties

  • Oversee the strategic management of instructors
  • Oversee academic staff recruitment and professional development activities
  • Create and articulate academic rules and guidelines
  • Assist in the development of programs
  • Conduct staff meetings and discuss instructor evaluations
  • Attending faculty meetings
  • Coordinate student activities, participate in activities of faculty committees
  • Advise President on academic matters
  • Provide academic counseling or advising to students and faculty
  • Improve school programs and monitor policies
  • Assess student needs and respond to any concerns in an effective and timely manner
  • Review and approve all faculty and staff vacation, leave requests, and contracts
  • Manage operations of programs to ensure consistency with learning outcomes, and curriculum
  • Lead compliance with accreditation standards
  • Chair research committees and guide students in research publications
  • Responsible for working with Finance to ensure efficient management of the College’s finances
  • Other duties as assigned by the President/CEO
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum Master’s degree
  • Minimum 5 years experience proven excellence in teaching with a demonstrated achievement in scholarly activity
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to collaborate with teams
  • Ability to recognize the needs of the College
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
