Job Description

MatrixHR is currently recruiting experienced Superintendents to join our client on some exciting new projects located in both Northern Manitoba and Northern Ontario! Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Superintendent is responsible for the daily operations of specific projects, including but not limited to project scheduling, Foreman reporting, project safety and monitoring project budgets. This position will be working on various project locations in NorthernManitoba and Northern Ontario:

  • Northern Ontario or Northern Manitoba projects.
  • Rotational basis, fly-in and fly-out, 20/10 schedule mainly.
  • Projects: Schools, personal care homes, water treatment plants, retail and commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, etc.
  • Wage: Negotiable.
About the Role:
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate the Field Coordinators, Foreman, and hourly employees on projects.
  • Liaise with the subcontractors, owner representatives, suppliers, and surrounding communities daily.
  • Attend regular site meetings.
  • Assess hiring and onboarding needs while controlling labor costs and the labor force.
  • Review and approve all foremen #39;s daily reports on the project.
  • Represent the company during onsite inspections, final inspections, and warranty period inspections.
  • Participate and ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Take the lead or assist in any job site accident investigation.
  • Ensure job equipment is being maintained and properly used.
  • Responsible for overall cost control on the job including discretionary spending, inventory control,handling, and storage of major materials.
  • Assist in the creation of job procedures.
  • Work directly with fleet personnel to ensure all required equipment is available for jobs.
  • Assist with development plans for department staff and secure resources for their training.
  • Participate in building relationships with First Nation communities.
  • Responsible for adhering to the departmental budget.
  • Review and approve timecards and expense sheets for processing.
  • Responsible for the adherence to a QMS system within the department.
  • Follow all requirements of the company #39;s Health and Safety Program and support a safe work environment.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in general contracting and construction.
  • Experience in water/sewage treatment plants, schools, healthcare, and modular construction will be considered an asset.
  • Experience with scheduling is required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) will be considered an asset.
  • Gold Seal Certification or Red Seal Carpentry designation will be considered an asset.
  • Advanced computer skills are required.
  • Critical thinking and effective decision-making skills are required.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are mandatory.
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
