Job Description

Job DescriptionAECOM’s Winnipeg office is currently seeking an Environmental Engineering Intern (May 2024) to join our team of dynamic engineers, scientists, biologists and planners within our Environment Business Line. We are looking for an intern who can support both our Remediation Group and Impact Assessment and Permitting Group. This intern will support the work we do for government and industry including groundwater monitoring, environmental site assessment, and preliminary environmental studies.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope
  • Collect and enter data and apply technical principles and theories
  • Sample collection of various media (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, etc.) as part of environmental site investigations, e.g. Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, and environmental baseline studies.
  • Supporting fieldwork associated with environmental assessment including biological inventories for aquatic resources, e.g. water quality, benthic invertebrates, and fish; and terrestrial ecological investigations including baseline studies.
  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, and federal regulations to ensure compliance
  • Work both in the field and in the office. You will be in the field 60% of your time, and you will gather data using advanced technology and applications. That work may require you to be in various on-site locations, from an industrial complex to a meadow. You will be in the office 40% of the time, and you will perform analysis on qualitative and quantitative data as it relates to meeting provincial and federal environmental requirements
  • Be part of project team, which includes attending daily meetings, performing rudimentary analysis, and reporting
