This track record of success has enabled us to become one of Canada’s fastest growing companies as ranked by Profit Magazine and one of Canada’s fastest growing Private Investment Counsels by Investor Economics.Reporting to Lead Investment Counsellor, the primary focus of the Investment Counsellor is to serve as trusted advisor for VPIC high-net-worth families, prospective clients, and advisors who have referred clients to our platform. The Investment Counsellor is adept at developing trusted long-term relationships, partners directly with referring advisors to deliver on an established shared services agreement and provides an exceptional client experience to VPIC families who have entrusted us with their wealth.The Investment Counsellor is responsible for providing a holistic investment and wealth planning experience by building and managing tailored portfolios and determining appropriate asset mix, allocations, and investment policies based on guidance from the Asset Allocation Committee. Additionally, the Investment Counsellor provides economic, market, and portfolio performance reviews with clients on a regular basis and ensures ongoing exchange of information takes place as it relates to the client’s total financial picture.ResponsibilitiesEstablish Investment Policy Statements, Client Onboardingamp; Portfolio ImplementationDeliver a holistic investment and wealth planning experience by considering a client’s financial plan, client profile and objectives to establish an Investment Policy Statement (IPS) that is suitable for the overall client situation.Make recommendations for the client portfolio, taking into consideration all VPIC investment options, Asset Allocation Committee recommendations and models market, and macroeconomic conditions.Design and oversee the implementation of a transition plan from a client’s existing portfolio to the recommended portfolio, taking into consideration existing holdings and tax.Collaborate with Client Service, Operations, Trading, and Compliance Teams to ensure the client onboarding process is completed, transition plans are executed, and portfolio recommendations are implemented in an efficient and timely manner.Portfolio Management and Investment AnalysisMonitor existing client portfolios, manage cash balances, rebalancing, and adjusting accounts and allocations as necessary, based on client considerations and VPIC models.Maintain and ensure client profiles are in good order – working with Compliance, Client Service and Operations Teams to keep Know-Your-Client (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering, and client meeting notes up to date.Provide analysis, advice, and ongoing coverage on non-model securities.Participate in the Asset Allocation Committee to establish consensus outlooks, define and monitor model portfolios, determine cash deployment strategies, and assess whether new investment options are needed.Client and Advisor Relationship Managementamp; Business DevelopmentRegularly meet with existing clients to deliver high quality portfolio reviews and investment updates consistent with the VPIC service model and communication philosophy.Collaborate with other Investment Counsellors, Associates, Analysts and Referring Advisors to deliver second opinions on outside investment portfolios, craft investment proposals and present to prospects.Conduct regular review meetings with referral partners to ensure all client accounts are in good order and the defined service model is being delivered effectively.Assist the Lead Investment Counsellor to cultivate and grow the VPIC direct client and referral networks.Educationamp; ExperienceUniversity degree in Finance, Economics, or related disciplineA minimum of one: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) or Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) designations in good standingLicensed as or eligible to become licensed as an Associate Advising Representative (AAR) or Advising Representative (AR) with the Manitoba Securities Commission immediatelyInvestment management experience working with high-net-worth and/or financial planning experience are an assetTechnical KnowledgeStrong understanding of asset classes, investment vehicles, portfolio management and investment principles, best practices, and emerging trendsExtensive understanding of Risk, Trading and Portfolio Management systems and toolsTechnical fluency with the ability to learn and adapt to new technology effectivelyAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, TeamsSkillsamp; AbilitiesAdvanced relationship management skills with the ability to build collaborative working relationships based on mutual trustSuperior communication skills and ability to articulate complex scenarios clearly and succinctlyAbility to quickly grasp new concepts and work in a high-performing culture, under pressure and with time-sensitive deadlinesAdvanced organizational awareness, adept at managing and prioritizing multiple tasks with competing deadlinesDetail oriented, analytical and conceptual thinker with well-developed problem solving and decision-making skillsAchievement oriented with the ability to be flexible in one’s approach to established plans based on emerging needsInnovative, entrepreneurial spirit with a creative outlook and resourceful natureSelf-confident and business savvy with a general penchant for excellence Comprehensive health, dental and vision benefitsHealthamp; Wellness Spending Account4% matching RRSP allocationGreat workplace culture!
