Position Summary: This role is a full-time 1 year contract; 0.5FTE dedicated to working in a Collaborative Family Practice Team performing in person or virtual Physical Activity Counseling and Exercise Prescription for patients in pursuit of a healthy active lifestyle. 0.5FTE is dedicated to developing and delivering in-person or virtual community exercise programs tailored to older adults of varying exercise ability and health status.Nature of Work: Provide one-on-one physical activity counseling and fitness and exercise management to patients as part of collaborative primary care practice that includes several physicians, psychiatry, nurse practitioner, physiotherapist(s), dietitian and other allied health professionals.Collaboratively work with patients to provide physical activity and exercise education, resources, and support in pursuit of a healthy active lifestyle. Help individuals of all ages and abilities, develop and achieve their goals.Receive and manage referrals from other health care providers- review patient history and provide communication back to providers through electronic medical records and written form.Develop strategies and protocols to support the Community Active for Life, Acadia Cardiac Maintenance, Acadia Active Aging, and Community Partner programs.Coordinate and support exercise programming in community settings, working with recreation programs as necessaryReport and analyze data collected from participants fitness evaluationsDemonstrate strong communication, empathetic ability, and organizational skillsRequirements:
  • Bachelor of Kinesiology degree (or equivalent)
  • CSEP-Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist
  • Documented experience completing fitness assessment, physical activity counseling and exercise prescription and management with individuals with chronic conditions (eg. cardiovascular, metabolic, musculo-skeletal, neuromuscular and aging conditions)
Pay: $27-30 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience (note; 4% pay in lieu of benefits), 3 weeks vacation, travel reimbursed.Requesting that applicants submit a cover letter outlining relevant skills and experience and reasons this position is of interest.
