Job Description

Competition #22-01-AU:Acadia seeks a Coordinator, International Student Advising and Wong International Centre in Student Services to maintain and enhance programs that support and meet the needs of Acadias international student population.The Coordinator is responsible for international student advising, program development and implementation, provides leadership on international student concerns, and advocates and establishes a strong community support for close to 500 international students. Working with the local community and government organizations the coordinator ensures positive, productive relationships between international students and surrounding communities.The Coordinator is also responsible for the Wong International Centre (WIC), including budgeting, staff supervision and the guidance and assessment of the Centres programs and services.QUALIFICATIONS:

  • We are seeking a candidate who has a bachelors degree and a minimum of 3 years progressive experience in Canadian international student affairs (a combination of work, volunteer and lived experience will be considered) with an advanced understanding of international student issues in Canada.
  • IETP certificate and accreditation as a Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA) or a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) will be considered an asset.
  • We are seeking candidates with demonstrated experience in program development, implementation and management. Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to facilitate strong relationships with campus and community partners is required.
  • Ability to apply creativity and recommend strategies for engagement initiatives in response to cultural and social trends.
  • Proven strong intercultural competencies with an ability to establish rapport with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Exceptional communication skills to work effectively and diplomatically with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
  • Applicants must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and comfortable working in a technology supported environment.
  • Applicants must be able to work a flexible schedule which may at time include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
