Visit us today and check out www.novascotia.com to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.ResponsibilitiesThe Health Information Clerk reports to the Manager-Health Information Services and is responsible for the operational activities related to processes in record/file management and for the operational activities related to the registry processes and the internal components of communication such as switchboard and paging. The position may require the candidates to be available for shift work including nights, weekends and holidays, as well as being readily available on short notice as required by workload.Qualifications

  • Grade XII
  • Successful completion of an approved Medical Office Assistant or Secretarial Course that includes typing, filing, computer skills and office management
  • Typing speed of 40 words per minute with accuracy
  • Successful completion of Medical Terminology course or equivalent experience
  • Data entry skills and related computer knowledge
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Demonstrate good attendance in past and current employment
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
  • Ability to work independently; to prioritize activities and work in a team environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships with all levels of staff and clients, including those internal and external to the organization.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Successful external applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment

  • Permanent part time positions 50%; 35 hours bi-weekly
