Job Description

Purpose:

  • Responsible for ensuring that the products produced meet quality standards required to minimize quality costs and maximize customer satisfaction whilst ensuring that procedures and processes are adhered to.
  • Ensure incoming materials meet required quality standards.
  • Responsible for identifying and raising quality issues and for speedily resolving them to ensure zero impact to the customer.
  • Work in a team environment to develop and implement best practices that emphasize defect prevention, reduction in variation and waste and provide for continuous improvements in meeting all customer requirements.
  • To work closely with the Operations, Purchasing and Engineering departments.
Responsibilities:
  • Support the management of all quality-related issues within the manufacturing team (e.g. internal, supplier, customer and customer warranty)
  • Work with the team to identify root cause and instigate permanent corrective actions for product quality issues
  • Carry out supplier validation audits, with supplier support and supplier advanced product quality planning (APQP)
  • Carry out product and process auditing
  • Ensure control plans and associated documentation are implemented effectively and maintained
  • Monitor and report on quality-related key performance indicators including scrap monitoring, rework levels, failure rates
  • Ensure compliance and assist with adherence to the Quality Management system (ISO9001)
  • Assist with training of quality awareness
  • Lead the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and health, safety and Environmental risks
  • Support new product launches to ensure that supplier quality meets the required standards
  • Perform on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of correction actions of supplier quality issues (NCR/SCAR)
  • Collate and evaluate supplier quality data to identify process improvement opportunities within the supply chain
  • Work with the supplier directly, create corrective action plans to address process failures
  • Lead in the supplier evaluation and monitoring, including supplier audits and other activities to ensure supplied processes, products and services are in accordance with the determined requirements
  • Determine and implement the controls needed for verification and validation of the externally provided product and services- to ensure the requirements are met
  • Coordinate the incoming inspection process
  • Control the status and calibration of the measuring and test equipment (MTE)
  • Promote the use of preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Measurement System Analysis, and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
  • Assist with engineering product specifications, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and evaluation of first off samples, validation and verification reports
  • Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new products or changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements
Education / experience:
  • Bachelor #39;s degree in engineering; with 5-10 years #39; experience in a quality role; in the manufacturing industry
  • ASQ Certificate is an asset
  • Working knowledge of quality management systems
  • Strong working knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
  • Good understanding manufacturing processes: specifically, those used in production of a custom build and automated assembly
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge is required
  • Inspection methods/ audit experience is required
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings
  • Ability to travel and drivers license is required
  • Valid passport is required
