Our strength is our peopleWe invite you to follow your dreams and explore a challenging and rewarding career at Martinrea.Job Summary:As a UI/UX Designer, you will be a member of the Process Innovation Team focused on developing software that enhances production in our manufacturing facilities. You will design and refine new and existing applications by determining product requirements, re-evaluating requirements, and creating dynamic solutions and designs that meet the needs of diverse user groups. We are looking for a confident, creative, and outgoing leader who can reason about challenging technical problems. You will work closely with data scientists, engineers, and computer scientists to bridge the gap between complex, innovative applications and our stakeholders #39; needs. You will also work closely with our development team to assist them in building sleek, modern, and robust applications. Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor #39;s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human Computer Interfaces, Global Business and Digital Arts, UI/UX Design, or related program
  • Minimum 2 years proven experience working on digital experiences and user-centric research and design in a professional environment
  • Experience designing low and high fidelity mock-ups with Figma
  • Experience in collaborating with application development teams
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with projected end-users, data scientists, developers, tech leads, engineers, and other experts to provide design solutions for complex processes in the factory.
  • Produce requirements documentation, storyboards, and other research documents that will help you and our team understand the systems that impact new and ongoing projects at Martinrea.
  • Use various research techniques to evaluate and benchmark user interfaces/processes with end users, ensuring it complements the user #39;s workflow, environment, and needs.
  • Prioritize accessibility and comply with AODA and WCAG.
  • Keep up to date with design trends, specifically those that enhance Figma workflow.
  • Research new approaches to user interface and experience design.
  • Seamlessly work with and add to our Figma design system and communicate with our front-end team about changes made.
  • Design specialty graphics as needed.
  • Design and create reusable visual components that add consistency to the overall user experience.
  • Test software within a real manufacturing environment with development team to ensure design is accessible and works as intended.
  • Learn from other employees about how they solve problems in their domain.
  • Contribute to our open and diverse culture by sharing and teaching skills, techniques, strategies, and technologies to other employees.
Work Environment:
  • 100% in person role
  • 90% office environment
  • 10% Plant floor or user research that require you to walk through plant floor (PPE required)
  • Possibility of travel

  • Repetitive sitting for prolonged periods of time

  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures.
  • Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
