Job Description

Team Lead, Clinician - Crisis and OutreachDirect Service - (OPSEU)Full-Time, Permanent (Benefited)Multi-Site Accountability; Oxford Catchment Area (Oxford Zone)- Application Deadline: October 28, 2024 -Crisis Clinicians will support individuals accessing services by providing a psychosocial response in order to promote crisis resolution and empowerment for the individual. The Crisis Clinician will also work collaboratively with individuals to assess and identify their needs and link them to appropriate supports in the community. Crisis Clinicians work within a multi-disciplinary team framework throughout Oxford County. The Team Lead will support Crisis Clinicians in completing this work through orientation, training and clinical supervision.Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) completed within the last six months.   • What you #39;ll be making - Starting rate for this role is $29.57 per hour (Level 1 of the Direct Service - Regulated Grid);
    • Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8, $36.71 per hour
    • Internal applicants will be placed on the grid based on their seniority
  • When you #39;ll work - 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:00pm
  • Your benefits will be - After a 90 day waiting period, will be enrolled in extended healthcare benefits
  • Your pension plan - Immediately enrolled in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:
  • Coach and provide orientation, training and clinical supervision for Crisis and Outreach program staff
  • Respond to crisis calls and provide crisis interventions and support to County residents
  • Provide mobile crisis response services in partnership with hospitals, police and other community care providers offering mental health assessments and recommendations to assist in the resolution of the crisis and/or access to needed supports
  • Participate actively in the Oxford County community with active participation in collaboration, resource development and partnership to establish positive collaborative relationships
  • Provide opportunities for members of the professional staff team to participate in community leadership, networking, and collaboration
  • Provide on call support on a rotating basis to assist in ensuring that the Association provides continuous support to our professional staff, including problem solving, consultation, guidance and feedback
  • Advise on any Work Life, Client Safety, Quality Improvement and Best Practice opportunities for the Association
Agencyamp; Program Operations:
  • Assist the Manager in leading team meetings, supporting scheduling functions, gathering stats, doing documentation reviews and other leadership focused activities.
  • Assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Association’s programs and services
  • Comply with the agency policies, standards, guidelines and procedures
  • Participate effectively in Leadership Team Meetings and other designated internal meetings as required
  • Work in cooperation with Management, other Team Leaders, and other staff members in the provision of efficient and coordinated services
  • Collaborate with the leadership team and promote a fair and equitable work environment
  • Support Quality Improvement to ensure that a high level of quality is maintained in the delivery of programs and services
Human Resources:
  • Assist with effective orientation, training and development of staff and volunteers involved in programs and services
  • Provide observations and feedback from the coaching experience for the staff evaluation process
  • Participate in the hiring process for external professional staff (interviews, orientation, etc.)
  • Facilitate coverage for vacant Crisis Support shifts while On-Call utilizing agreed upon procedure
  • Provide guidance to staff and act as a resource
  • Mentor positive behaviour including open communication, respect, professionalism and serve as a positive role model
  • Respect and acknowledge the contributions, opinions and expertise of all team members
Community Partnerships:
  • Develop and maintain community relationships by generous information sharing and resolving high level problems with partners (local hospitals, community agencies, police, local government offices and neighbours)
  • Represent the program as a member of Community/Provincial committees to share information and address program needs
Social Action:
  • Actively participate on external boards or committees of other organizations and inform the Association of opportunities
WHAT YOU #39;LL NEED TO APPLY:Police Vulnerable Sector Check RequirementsSuccessful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 2 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.We require the following qualifications:
  • RPN, RN,Bachelor #39;s or Master #39;s Degree in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology or related fieldis required
  • Currently registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, the College of Nurses of Ontario, the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, or the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Valid Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle with adequate insurance to carry out job duties
  • Current, clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • Ability to attend work regularly
We prefer the following qualifications:
  • A minimum of three years of direct client support experience.
  • Experience and detailed knowledge of serious mental illnesses usually gained by several years of working with this population
  • Experience in crisis intervention/management and crisis resolution
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Pro-active approach to communication, public relations and inter-personal skills and relationships is essential
  • Extensive knowledge of serious mental illness and trends in the provision of support services to people with such illnesses
  • Planning and organizational abilities to facilitate advocacy and support coordination/ service access and to carry out one-to-one support tasks
  • Extensive knowledge of the support/treatment services network in Oxford County and of regional services commonly accessed by the Program.
  • Computer skills
  • Experience in working in a community-based setting with an extensive knowledge of community resources and both generic and specialized local social support networks is essential
  • Effective problem skills and proven ability to manage multiple budgets, projects and programs
  • Knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Model
  • Extensive knowledge of pharmaceuticals in the treatment of mental illness
  • Treatment of Addictions
