Company Description-Youll Make It HappenIf you like chasing demanding targets, thrive on making decisions in the pursuit of brilliance, and enjoy the support of the world’s finest experts, we have a place for you.Job Description-The De Beers Group has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and energetic individual to join the Site Services team at the Gahcho Kué Mine Site based in the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, the incumbent will carry out inspections, repairs and service maintenance work on carpentry and scaffolding following established maintenance criteria. The ideal candidate will be one who enjoys multi tasking, is results oriented and is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm.Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out repairs and service maintenance work on carpentry and scaffolding.
  • Under general supervision, perform journey-level work in the design, construction, repair and maintenance of structures and related physical facilities.
  • Perform full range of rough and finished carpentry work, including building, modeling, retrofitting, maintaining, and repairing various types of facilities and structures.
  • Inspect completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations.
  • Ensure standards are maintained according to the relevant legislation and company standards.
The role is based within the Engineering and Site Services. The role is based within the Site Services team. This is a site-based position with two (2) weeks on, two (2) weeks off rotation.
  • Qualifications-Applicable inter-provincial trade certificate (Master Carpenter or Interprovincial Red Seal –Carpentry) with at least ten (10) years of related experience;
  • Possession of scaffolding ticket an asset;
  • Erect/install and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades required at construction sites;
  • Concrete work;
  • Builds footings, walls, column forms, slab forms, and stair forms and parapets;
  • Installs precast units, framing systems sheathing, exterior trims, interior/exterior doors and hardware, windows, flooring, wall coverings, washroom accessories and architectural materials;
  • Knowledge of applicable building and safety code requirements;
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Ability to team build and promote a team environment is instrumental with a strong commitment to personal & team safety;
  • Previous experience in a coaching, mentoring role;
  • Previous mining experience will be an asset;
  • Butt fusing and or experience in fusing HDPE 12 – 26-inch pipe is an asset; and
  • Additional duties as required.
