Job Description

Field Data CollectorYukon and the Northwest TerritoriesIn collaboration with Northwestel, MOBIA is currently recruiting a Field Data Collector in the Yukon and Northwest Territories for a four-month term. In this role you will be responsible for capturing pole and customer premise information pertaining to existing telecom infrastructure in various parts of NWT/Yukon, using a state-of-the-art GIS handheld unit. You must be willing to travel and work flexible hours as shifts can vary depending on the assignment. You will be accountable to plan your day efficiently to provide accurate, comprehensive data with an approved set of guidelines back to an administrative resource.This role is open to all candidates with preference given to candidates with Canadian Indigenous Ancestry and/or Yukon First Nations Ancestry. Preference will also be given to residents of the Yukon or the Northwest Territories.Skills / Qualifications:

  • Ability to travel throughout the Yukon and Northwest Territories
  • Physically able to travel through difficult terrain, all weather conditions, and able to walk long distances
  • Must be able to travel within and outside of their residing city determined by project requirements, overnight or extended remote work may be required
  • Full and valid Canadian driver’s license (for example: Stage Three, NWT Non-Probationary License (Full Class 5, Class 5 Yukon Driver’s license)) for a minimum of 3 years is required for this role
  • A team player
  • Ability to work outside 80% of the time
  • Ability to work independently 90% of the time
  • Self-starter with high attention to detail
  • Customer Service focused individual that takes pride in delivering high quality data results
  • Proficiency with MS-Office; and the ability to learn new systems and software programs Experience in outside plant engineering is an asset
  • Proactive problem solver with strong listening skills.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills to interface with other departments
  • Experience in a telecommunications environment an asset
  • Experience working with handheld devices, like Trimble or IKE GPS units, is an asset.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Land Surveyor is an asset
