Job Description

Cheetah Resources Corp is a rapidly growing mining company. We operate Canada’s first rare earth mine. We are a company built on integrity, safety, respect, community and diversity. We aim to be the largest independent supplier of rare earth feedstock outside China, supporting clean technologies and industries such as electric vehicles, renewable energy and the green economy.Title: HSE Advisor (contract 6-9 months)Position Summary: The HSE Advisor will be responsible for implementation of the safety management system, conducting inspections, assurance and maintaining records. This position will promote and utilize safe work practices by leading by example and through effective coaching techniques. The incumbent will advise on regulatory compliance and make recommendations to improve the health, safety, and wellbeing of all employees. Rotations of 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off at our Nechalacho mine site.Reports to: HSE ManagerResponsibilities:

  • Participate in the identification, evaluation, control, and management of hazards and risks throughout the organization.
  • Act as an advisor to the Occupational Health Committee(s) and ensures effectiveness of the OHC as required by legislation.
  • Ensure consistent promotion and utilization of work instructions and safety tools.
  • Conduct safety training and track training.
  • Implement the hazard identification process focusing on job hazard analysis and field level risk assessments.
  • Deliver the safety orientation and arrange and participate in a weekly safety meeting with all site staff.
  • Prepare safety shares for leaders and participate in toolbox meetings daily.
  • Participate in incident investigations (gather facts, photos and timeline) and develop recommendations to prevent future occurrences. Prepare incident shares with management approval of corrective actions.
  • Coordinate emergency practices and keep site emergency response plan up to date.
  • Participate in first line assurance – contractor management and inspections.
  • Assist with monthly reporting requirements.
  • Coach and assist for the health, safety, and well-being of all employees.
  • Assist with PPE inventory, first-aid supplies and maintaining inventories of and inspections of equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Post-Secondary diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience implementing and promoting safe work practices and policies within a similar environment.
  • Valid first aid certificate or First-Aid Responder Certification.
  • NCSO certification. CRSP is preferred.
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to coach and influence leaders to meet established guidelines. Where no guidelines exist, participate in job hazard analysis and work instruction development.
  • Act as a team player, motivate, encourage others and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Understanding of applicable Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
  • General knowledge of Fire and Building Codes.
  • Previous experience as a HSE Advisor in a mining environment would be considered an asset
  • Able to plan and complete project actions with multiple demands and competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
