Job Description

The City of Yellowknife is currently seeking a professional, highly skilled and experienced individual to join the City in the role of Manager, Economic Development and Communications. The City of Yellowknife welcomes applications from all qualified candidates and encourages Indigenous persons, visible minorities, and persons with a disability to self-declare when submitting their applications.Under the general direction of the Director, Economic Development and Strategy, the Manager is responsible for leading municipal economic development and tourism initiatives and administration and operation of communications for the City of Yellowknife. This position plays a key role in developing strategies that support attracting and retaining commercial and industrial business, maximizing visitor services and tourism potential, overseeing the strategies and campaigns to ensure the communications objectives of the City are met.The work requires a degree from a recognized university in Business Administration or a related field plus a minimum of three (3) years related experience, preferably in a government setting or dynamic corporate environment. The incumbent must also have at least a couple of years of experience managing professional and support staff.The incumbent must possess demonstrated abilities to establish and maintain cooperative and constructive relationships with individuals at all levels of government and other organizations. The successful applicant must have excellent communication skills both in writing and orally, creativity and an ability to clearly and graphically convey messages as there is the requirement to make multi-media presentations and engage in creating visioning processes with interested stakeholders.The position has a salary range of $115,529 to $144,411 and a comprehensive benefits package including housing and vacation travel allowances totalling $450 a month, a defined benefit pension plan, and relocation assistance.
