Department InformationThe Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) works through wide-ranging partnerships and initiatives to deliver quality programs and services that promote and support economic development, diversification and prosperity in the interest of Northwest Territories residents – their businesses and communities.Job InformationThe Mineral Rights Specialist is responsible for the provision of research, technical advice and writing policy documents related to the regulation of mining, coal and dredging tenures and licences under applicable regulations and development of regulatory changes.The Mineral Rights Specialists main responsibility is the research and analysis of data as it relates to legislative development and mineral rights administration in the NWT, including analyses of other jurisdictions. The Mineral Rights Specialist writes reports including research documents, policy options papers, and policy recommendations papers. The research duties include keeping up to date on industry and governmental activities that affect mineral rights, as well as devoting time to special projects to improve and modernize mineral rights administration.
