You would get the full benefit of having a fly in-fly out experience, and the opportunity to travel for free!This is an amazing learning opportunity with unlimited potential for professional and personal growth, and a unique way to experience an expanded clinical scope while enjoying an adventure at the same time!OPEN NWT POSITIONS: Average assignment durations vary from 2 to 6 weeks.The successful candidate ideally has (5) full-time equivalent years of experience in the below areas of practice, as they will provide high-quality community health relief support and exceptional nursing care to clients residing in the Northwest Territories Community. The experienced Northern Nurse must adhere to the policies and procedures under the direction of the NTHSSA - Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority.We have exciting opportunities for the following positions in NWT:Acute Registered Nurse (Obstetrics)Provides direct, patient and family centered nursing care to obstetrical clients (and their newborn infants), using a problem solving approach and in accordance with the standards, guidelines and scope of professional nursing practice to facilitate individualized obstetrical nursing care.Acute Registered Nurse (Pediatric)The Pediatric nurse may be assigned pediatric patients or a combination of pediatric and adult patients. These patients can include youth psychiatry, medical or surgical patients, and adult medical or surgical patients.Acute Registered Nurse (Surgery)The RN, Surgery, independently makes day-to-day decisions regarding individual nursing care plans based on delegated medical orders. The incumbent may be responsible for up to 6 patients at any one time, using sound judgment to provide care through independent nursing interventions and delegated medical orders from the physician.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESApply the nursing process utilizing the skills of observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, counseling, and health teaching according to the established care plan. The interdisciplinary team will ensure that, on an ongoing basis, the emotional, spiritual, physical comfort and safety of clients are met to the greatest possible extent within the scope of practice.

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate required along with exceptional interpersonal skills, and an ability to handle difficult situations in an objective consistent format
  • Adhere to Bayshore Policies and Procedures such as:
  • maintains confidentiality of client and corporate information
  • infection prevention practices
  • continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the companys Quality Management System
  • proactive Health & Safety activities while performing all duties.

Job QualificationEducation & Nursing License Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, and
  • Have or obtain a nursing license through the Registered Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (RNANTNU)
ExperienceRNs must have at minimum a nursing degree and professional licensing with a preferred minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience within the last 10 years.Nurses will also be required to complete a competency checklist to ensure they have the skill set for the position.Other Skills and Abilities** All courses and qualifications will be reviewed/discussed at time of interview
  • Current and valid CPR/BLS certifications
  • Proof of COVID Vaccinations
  • Immunization Record – Hep B and MMR
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector check(must be within 12 months)
  • Must have valid Canadian driver’s license
