This mandate will be carried out in a manner which respects community and indigenous values and encourages communities to assume increasing responsibilities.Job InformationThe Paralegal Assistant position is location in Yellowknife and responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the Land Titles Office and Personal Property Registry. Working a part of a Paralegal Team, the Paralegal Assistant is the public face of Registries and works in a fast-paced environment, providing service to the public. The Land Titles Office is responsible for the review and approval for registering property interests in the NWT. The incumbent must be reliable in supporting the administration of the Registries.The Paralegal Assistant is responsible for the intake of documents submitted for registration, processing submissions and document administration. This position provides information to the public and assists them in navigating Registries. Corresponding with the public, law firms, financial institutions and other stakeholders is an important aspect of the position. The incumbent must be a team player, flexible and have good interpersonal/communication skills.The incumbents time is mostly spent in the sitting position with frequent opportunity to move, and they are required to lift heavy index books and supplies on a regular basis.The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities that are critical to this position include:
