Department InformationThe Department of Executive and Indigenous Affairs works to provide overall management and direction to the Executive branch of the Government of the Northwest Territories. The Department is responsible for: coordinating and supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of initiatives and actions in support of cross-government goals The Department is responsible for ensuring mutually respectful intergovernmental relations between the territorial government and Aboriginal, provincial, territorial and national and international governments are maintained; along with negotiating and implementing land, resources And self-government agreements that address Aboriginal rights in the Northwest Territories.Job InformationThe Production and Events Specialist is a part of the Cabinet Communications team which aims to support the Premier and Cabinet in their work on behalf of residents and stakeholders. The Cabinet Communications team provides strategic communications direction across the GNWT, prepares, and delivers political communications, engages in media relations, and deals with issues management.The role requires media relations and project coordination skills along with knowledge of the social media environment. The incumbent will be able to effectively use a DSLR camera and have the ability to support planning of media events like news conferences.To be successful in this role you would have acquired a combination of skills, abilities and knowledge through the completion of a diploma in radio and television broadcasting, multimedia production or a related field. Experience in broadcast journalism, graphic design, communications, journalism, marketing, new media, event management or a related field would be considered an asset.The Government of the Northwest Territories offers a competitive salary, an annual northern living allowance, a generous defined benefit pension plan, annual leave including the option for deferred leave, and health/dental benefits.
