Job Description

General Purpose of Position:Merchandising position is responsible for the execution of all receiving activities including unloading merchandise, merchandise preparation and staging, outbound shipments, and daily backroom activities. This individual will assist in maintaining the stockroom in a neat, orderly and safe manner. Other duties include serving the customer at merchandise pick-up, sorting merchandise, and properly using all material handling guidelines and safety equipment. An essential function of this position is the ability to lift and move at least 20 lbs. in weight to maintain flow and replenishment of merchandise. Cross training may be required and will be provided.Tasks and Responsibilities:· Examine contents of shipments and comparing them with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, and to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment· Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipments of orders. Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting and recordkeeping purposes· Assisting in putting away stock· Readily accepts additional responsibilities and duties as assignedSkills and Competencies:· Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology· Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed· Excellent customer services, self-confidence, initiative, tact and a neat appearanceRequirements:· Previous experience in retail or building industry and familiarity with building materials is an asset· Strong commitment to safety· Ability to lift and move at least 20lbs in weight· Organizational and time management skills would be beneficial· Excellent written and oral communication skills· Attends and participates in all scheduled training and company meetings.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentBenefits:
