Job Description

We have maintained our Platinum membership status since 2008.POSITION SUMMARYCANA Services Ltd. is looking for a Construction Superintendent for their ReNew Division. ReNew specializes in renovations and rehabilitations in occupied premises.The Superintendent, reporting to the Vice President, is responsible for all work on site and ensuring that the physical work is completed within budget, on schedule and in accordance with the contract documents. The Superintendent is committed to minimizing the cost of the project through the efficient use of field staff, equipment, and materials.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accountable for all site safety requirements including contractor management
  • Responsible to ensure all work at site is conducted safely and efficiently as possible
  • Schedule and coordinate all subcontractors and own forces work; review and understand scope of work for all trades and the associated responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Construction Manager to ensure that the forecasted costs and the project schedule are up to date and accurate
  • Mentor team members to ensure career growth and development
  • Lead meetings
  • Work collaboratively with the project teams including clients, architects and consultants
  • Ensure that site documentation (such as weather, accidents, field force numbers, concrete pours, etc.) is accurately recorded on a daily basis
  • Monitor work and materials to ensure QC standards are met
  • Review and approval of all own forces timesheets
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILTIES
  • Must love to reno!
  • Previous experience in healthcare facilities, IP&C requirements would be an asset
  • Journeyman or equivalent qualifications
  • 10 or more years of commercial construction experience with a proven track record of projects being delivered on time and on budget
  • Effectiveness in the areas of construction safety and productivity, contractor management, construction planning and execution, project organization and construction project controls
  • Labour relations expertise in both union and non-union environments is an asset
  • Possess strong communication, leadership, integration, problem-solving, interfacing, scheduling, project management and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in various software programs, to implement the day-to-day site operations (drawings, deficiency lists, RFI’s, etc.). Previous experience in Procore would be an asset.
  • Professional conduct with both internal and external customers
  • Demonstrate a commitment to all facets of the role while working towards the achievement of company goals and objectives
  • Awareness of policies and procedures and fellow team members within the organization
  • Red Seal & Gold Seal or GSI Registered an asset.
  • Valid Driver’s License or means of transportation to project sites.
  • A high school diploma or GED or Certificate preferred or a Certificate in a Skilled Trade.
  • Have a good understanding and/or ability to find information as needed in the OH&S regulations.
WORKING CONDITIONSThe nature of this position requires physically demanding motions and tasks. Candidates are required to be in good physical condition with the ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and fit for work. This position requires candidates to work on project sites outside in all seasons and weather.This position may require shift work rotations, that could include evenings and weekends to ensure project deadlines are met. There is a possibility for this position to require travel and out of town projects.LEADERSHIP COMPETENCYCANA’s leadership competency model is applicable to all employees and leaders.
