Job Description

Tlicho Engineering & Environmental Services (TEES) is 100% owned by the Tlicho Investment Corporation (TIC). We are currently seeking candidates for this exciting full time permanent career opportunity as Superintendent on the Tlicho Highway (Tlicho All Season Road)Reporting to the TEES Manager, Tlicho Highway Operations, and the North Star Infrastructure (NSI) General Manager, the Superintendent will oversee the Tlicho Highway maintenance, safety operations and crew management/scheduling.Responsibilities:

  • Crew management and scheduling (6 person crew consisting of the Road Maintenance Field Technicians)
  • Coordinate daily work activities and logistics
  • Subcontractor oversight
  • Traffic control/road traffic management planning
  • Equipment operation (grader, snow plow)
  • Report/present updates on work and project progress where applicable
  • Client communication
  • Invoice preparation
  • Preparation and submission of a Daily Road Report
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a similar role; preferably in the field of civil construction/maintenance with a minumum of 5 years at a Superintendent level
  • Knowledgeable in all facets of repair work
  • Knowledge of applicable road maintenance/management legislation
  • Ability to review, apply and enforce safety protocols, procedures and practices
  • Minimum of 10 years experience operating heavy equipment to include Grader, Snow Cat, Plow Truck
  • Experience with traffic control/traffic management planning when maintenance work is underway
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility
  • Comfort and experience working in extreme weather climates (temperatures at times hitting below -40 C)
  • Ability to work and lead in a culturally-sensitive work environment
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office suite of applications)
  • Class 1 or 3 Drivers license required
  • NWT Supervisory Level I or II certification required
