The purpose of this role will be to lead the delivery of driver safety and driver performance across the business, whilst ensuring the operation is managed within budget. The post holder will be lead the wider ECDP in respect of all train driver related workstreams. The role will also be responsible for making decisions on behalf of the business in any operational related situation, whilst on-call, ability to stop trains from going into service, ability to stand down drivers as appropriate, to make decisions within the remit of their role.The closing date for applications is Monday 22nd August 2022.To manage train drivers, and operations competence managers to support the safety and welfare of the train drivers across the businessTo direct the team of Competency Leaders, Driver Leaders, Drive Mentors and Driver Training Managerin the delivery of company safety, performance and financial targets.To liaise with resourcing to deploy Drivers efficiently, whilst meeting company standards of deliveryand performance.To lead the application of operational standards through the driving teams.Designing, developing and implementing new initiatives to further enhance driver performance and reduce operating costs.Managing the safe and cost-effective delivery of driving resources to meet the business needs.To manage liaison with recognised Trade Unions through structured local level interfaces, developing a successful working relationship to enable matters to be concluded in an atmosphere of mutual understanding.To manage resource demand requirements, including recruitment of train drivers.To develop individuals within the team in accordance with the personal development structure, providing the support and training to enable people to meet their objectives and personal goals.To ensure through consultation and formal audits, that team members are meeting the requirements of their objectives and the company safety case.Drive and support continuous improvement in professional train driving.Build effective working relationships with suppliers and stakeholders, including Network Rail.Undertake accident and incident investigations as required.Attend business and industry meetings as requiredCarry out on call duties as requiredQualified train driver with competence and license held for at least 4 yearsDeemed to be medically fit to driver trainsQualified in Rules & Regulations and appropriate Appendix instructions.Personal Track Safety trained.Experienced, self-motivated manager possessing strong Customer Service vision and excellent people management skills.Must hold Verification qualification or equivalent.Ability to resolve conflict and influence people at all levels of the business and within external organisations.Excellent communication skills.Thorough knowledge of operating standards and practicesBenefits:The opportunity to work in a friendly, welcoming culture.
